Common questions
How do I find what percentage one number is of another?
Divide the first number by the second, then multiply by 100. For example, 30 out of 120 is 30 ÷ 120 × 100 = 25%.
How do I add a percentage to a number?
Figure out what the percentage is, then add it to the original number. The "Amount + %" result does this in one step, which is handy for working out prices after a markup or with tax added.
What's a percentage increase?
It's how much something changed as a percentage of the starting value. New value minus old value, divided by the old value, times 100.
