Percentage Calculator

Work out a percentage of any amount, and what the amount becomes when you add or subtract that percentage.

Working with percentages

A percentage is just a part out of a hundred. To find a percentage of an amount you multiply the amount by the percentage and divide by 100, which is exactly what this does.

The add and subtract results come in handy for markups, discounts, tips and tax. For a money-specific version, try the discount tool in our finance calculators.

Common questions

How do I find what percentage one number is of another?

Divide the first number by the second and multiply by 100. For example, 30 out of 120 is 30 ÷ 120 × 100, which is 25%.

How do I add a percentage to a number?

Work out the percentage of the number, then add it on. The "Amount + %" result here does that in one step, which is useful for markups or taxes.

What's a percentage increase?

It's the change from an old value to a new one, as a percentage of the old value: new minus old, divided by old, times 100.
